ANITA O'DAY THE LIFE OF A JAZZ SINGER
JAZZ ON A SUMMER'S DAY
available from New Yorker Films on DVD and VHS.
Anita's legendary performance of Sweet Georgia Brown and Tea for Two, which gained her widespread international acclaim.
This video honoring the Newport Jazz Festival combines
footage from the musical event with highlights of the 1958 America's
Cup Race. Acclaimed as one of the best jazz films ever made, JAZZ
ON A SUMMER'S DAY captures some legendary performances by jazz greats
such as Thelonius Monk and Louis Armstrong in a whimsically beautiful
manner, transporting the viewer back to that clear day in 1958. Director
Bert Stern's camera not only captures the humanity and brilliance
of these jazz legends, it also creates an aura of warm nostalgia
for that very special era in American history.

This entertaining documentary fully captures the joy and music of the 1958 Newport Jazz Festival, which featured some of the best performers of the era. Among the many jazz greats included are Louis Armstrong, Thelonious Monk, Anita O'Day, George Shearing, Dinah Washington and Gerry Mulligan. "Sweet Georgia Brown" and "Lazy River" are just two of the classic songs you'll hear. LET ME OFF UPTOWN - Soundie
This clip of the original soundie, it is a classic Gene Krupa hit featuring Anita and Roy Eldridge. It was their first Million selling hit! The soundie is completely kooky. We play these very rare soundies at Anita's show as they are not available for sale. This song is on the Anita O'Day Gene Krupa Let Me Off Uptown CD
Four Brothers-Timex All-Stars 1958 & Live in Tokyo '63
Anita on the Timex watch company sponsored Jazz television show coupled with her live Tokyo tv show. This is pure Anita like no one else. They strapped a Timex to the bottom of a speed boat and live on the air, pulled the watch off to show it's strength and waterproof ability--It was cracked and full of water. Oops! This song is available on the Live in Tokyo CD and with Marty Paitch's big band on Anita Sings the Winners.
Thanks For The Boogie Ride -- Soundie
Another classis Krupa tune made into a really hot soundie. This one also is a hoot. This song is on the Anita O'Day Gene Krupa Let Me Off Uptown CD.
